Welcome to my faculty page.
As with most air conditioning service men and contractors, I grew up in the trade. My father began his air conditioning & heating career before I was born. Growing up at an air conditioning & heating shop is actually fun. You learn common sense mechanical applications and physics at an early age.
Buy the time I was twelve, I was repairing window air conditioners in the shop my father owned. By age 18, my father retired, sold the shop to his partner, and as a result I went to work for a plumbing, HVACR distributor. Working there for two years I learned trade names of items and a little plumbing.
At age 20, I went to work for an HVACR contractor and stayed there for thirteen years. While working, I attended factory HVAC schools, was given business management training, and attended college.
I began my contracting career in 1987 and believe me, it has been a learning experience. Again and forever, I am training and learning new techniques as the HVACR trade expands and grows. I am currently contracting and expect to continue into the future.
I began teaching at Mt. SAC in the fall of 1996. My very first class was electrical basics. As time passed, I have taught almost every class in the HVACR department. Most recently, the heat pump class has been melded into the AIRC 20 basic refrigeration class. This will be this second year I’ve taught this class with the Heat Pump application in it.
I recently have taken a campus class to learn about student disabilities and how I can implement their needs into my courses. In the past, I have only had a few students who needed some assistance which proved to need minimal changes. Disabled students are welcome in my classroom and I will make every attempt to guide them to a successful course conclusion.
