Welcome to Engineering 18 Graphic!
Engineering 18 Graphics introduces students to the fundamentals of engineering drawing, visual communication, and technical drafting. Students learn how to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings using proper drafting standards, symbols, line types, dimensions, and drawing conventions. The course helps students develop accuracy, attention to detail, spatial visualization, and the ability to communicate design ideas clearly.
This class is similar in purpose to ENGIN-26: Engineering Graphics & CAD at Chaffey College, which also focuses on engineering graphics and design communication. However, one key difference is that ENGIN-26 places a stronger emphasis on CAD drafting and computer-aided design, while Engineering 18 Graphics provides more emphasis on traditional hand drafting and foundational drawing techniques.
By learning hand drafting first, students gain a strong understanding of how engineering drawings are constructed, organized, and communicated. These traditional skills provide an important foundation before advancing into CAD software, 3D modeling, and digital design tools. The course prepares students for future engineering, architecture, construction, manufacturing, and design-related coursework and careers.
