SPCH 20H – IPDA Debate Handout - FACT DEBATES

Description

A one-on-one debate format that emphasizes research, organization, logic, delivery, and refutation. The topic will be known ahead of time and you should prepare to debate on both sides of the resolution. A fact debate argues about is or is not true on a criteria of preponderance of significant evidence.

On all three debate days (3/23, 3/28, 3/30) you should be prepared to both debate and judge. You will be randomly assigned to either pro or con on each of the topics.  For each day, prepare your 1st affirmative or 1st negative speech for your written assignment.  Please bring that typed and ready at the start of case. Your "preparation time" will be done before class.
